Objective bDagitz furniture strives to create unique furniture that is rooted in functionality, visually intriguing, while displaying the honesty of the materials with a bit of whimsy. The goal is to craft pieces that are viewed and used on several levels. As a result, the work relates with its surroundings while possessing the impact to stand apart. |
Method Germinal to each piece is the idea that the unique character of materials is used to inspire and inform the design. The aim is to take advantage of the intrinsic strengths and inherent beauty of each material. The process is an ever-changing progression; adapting to the challenges and opportunities of manipulating raw materials into a finished object. |
Philosophy The selection of sustainable materials is equally important to how they are being used. Each piece of furniture is crafted with the idea that it must stand the test of time to respect the materials used in its construction. |
Bio From a very young age, Ben Dagitz has been creating with metal and wood. Beginning at his father’s workbench in the garage, he would make boxes to keep his baseball cards safe or furniture for the tree fort. With each project, he was learning something new and carrying that new knowledge forward to each new piece. After graduating from the University of Virginia in 2002 with a degree in Architecture, he was a founding partner of Design Build Office (DBO). Based in Charlottesville VA, the firm focused on designing and fabricating detail oriented renovation work. During his time at DBO, he often worked on pieces of furniture crafted specifically for individual projects. As of 2009, Ben’s efforts shifted towards starting his own business, bDagitz Furniture. He has relocated to Denver CO where he now lives and works building custom furniture. |
